Beach Boys are all in for new album and tour

The Beach Boys have upped the ante on their 50th anniversary reunion this year. In addition to launching their massive U.S. tour, the original surf bums have been back in the studio recording their first new album in over 15 years.

All the original surviving members of the band, including the once resistant Brian Wilson, are on board for the tour and the record, which is as yet untitled but scheduled for release June 5. The first single is, “That’s Why God Made The Radio.”

A new promo video for the single and about the making of the album was posted on The Beach Boys’ VEVO page on YouTube yesterday to coincide with the start of their anniversary tour. Fans should consider this a teaser to hold them over until the album comes out and/or they are able to catch the band live on the road. This so called “Single Sizzle Reel” can be found here.

Catch The Beach Boys between now and mid-July - they are a sure bet for a great night out during your summer vacation. Surf’s up!

Beach Boys celebrate 50 year anniversary without founding member

Seems that all the Beach Boys aren’t all smiles and surfing. While former members Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston are gearing up  for the band’s 50th anniversary tour this fall, don’t expect to see Brian Wilson on the stage.

The former founding member has repeatedly thrown a wet towel on any rumors that he would rejoin the group for an anniversary tour.

Beach Boys Battle Katie Perry

Katy Perry’s hit single “California Gurls” has taken over the airways this summer.  This in particular has made a few people unhappy.  A letter has been sent to Perry’s label, Capitol Records, insisting that Mike Love and Brian Wilson are credited as songwriters.

Why you may ask?  Towards the end of the track, an infamous line is uttered, “I wish they all could be California girls.”  My question is, can you claim credit for one phrase/line in a song?  Seems a little bit outrageous to me?  But then again, you hear that line and think “Beach Boys.” (Read More…)

Mike Love squashes reunion tour rumors

The highly anticipated Beach Boys 50th anniversary tour with Brian Wilson isn’t happening, according to Brian Wilson’s official website.

The reunion tour rumors came about after a June 17 interview between the Las Vegas Sun and Beach Boy Mike Love, who was quoted as saying that the band is “gearing up for the 50th anniversary, and Brian Wilson, who has been working on some unfinished Gershwin music project, will rejoin us.”

Now, BrianWilson.com reports that Mike Love is singing a different tune.

Beach Boys celebrate 50th anniversary in 2011 with possible reunion, new music

It’s hard to believe that the Beach Boys have been around for nearly five decades, but it’s true. And in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Mike Love opens up about a possible reunion with longtime member and founder Brian Wilson in 2011.

“We began in the fall of 1961, and our first tour was in 1962, and it’s been nonstop since then. Now we’re gearing up for the 50th anniversary, and Brian Wilson, who has been working on some unfinished Gershwin music project, will rejoin us,” Love told The Sun.

Not only could the reunion mean another Beach Boys tour, but also some new music from the band for the first time since 1996.

The Beach Boys Rocking Live All Summer Long

This summer, your favorite California surf band is making their way to a concert venue near you!  A band that immortalized the youth culture of 1960’s California celebrates four decades of surfing, driving, and romance.   The Beach Boys are known for their gorgeous harmonies and feel good music for all ages that will get you up off your seat and dancing.

The Beach Boys formed in 1961 by brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine.  The band originally performed as the Pendletones but it was suggested that they change their name upon being signed with Candix Records.  When Candix went out of business, The Beach Boys were picked up by Capitol Records and released “Surfin’ Safari.” ”Surfin’ Safari” reached #3 on the charts and marked the beginning of unforgettable harmonies and a rock and roll style full of Chuck Berry rhythms.

You will find the Beach Boys playing shows all over the US from April  through September with appearances at several fairs, including Clearfield County Fair in Pennsylvania, Antelope Valley Fair in California, and The Walworth County Fair in Wisconsin.  Beach Boys tickets are available now and if you are lucky you might get to see a guest appearance with John Stamos, who performs with The Beach Boys regularly!
